Guy Colclough founded Smart Analytics in 2001.
After the completion of his PhD (Metallurgy) at Leeds University, Guy’s career started in the manufacturing and business consultancy sectors before moving into software solution sales positions at Nixdorf (manufacturing), Cypher Business Solutions (high performance tele-sales applications) and Cognos (application development and business intelligence tools). Guy saw a large gap in the market for a specialised business intelligence business and he started his Company (GA Information Systems Limited) in 1995. GAIS was very successful with over 220 corporate clients and over 85 staff. GAIS quickly became the largest company of its type in the UK.
The business was highly innovative and boasted many of the first in its field. GAIS not only sold the BusinessObjects technologies but delivered consulting, support, application development and education services. GAIS developed and launched several packaged applications.
The success of GAIS directly spawned the testing business in 1997 and Guy built a second Company based around the Mercury Interactive testing tools. These Companies were sold in 1999 to Skillsgroup plc.
In 2001, Guy Colclough founded Smart Analytics Limited (now trading as numéro). The original intention was to create a small, innovative company based around the new capabilities of the emerging analytics technologies. However, work in two major UK contact centres during 2002 and 2003 led to the ideas for the development of the SmartAgént technologies. SmartAgént is now the focal point of numéro.
Guy’s responsibilities include: company strategy, sales & marketing and commercial matters.
Guy lives in Mellor (on the edge of the Peak District) with his wife, Marilyn and their two children: Zoë and Oliver. Guy enjoys watching Manchester United but is most passionate about his skiing and golf. Guy’s remaining ambitions are to ski like Bode Miller and to play golf like Luke Donald!
