There will be 4 million more tablet owners in the UK this Christmas, according to new data from YouGov in a study over December. If proved accurate, the survey would mean that over 20 million adults in the United Kingdom would own a tablet going into 2014.
According to the research, over 2.9 million consumers plan to buy a tablet over the festive season, with 1.3 million individuals expecting to receive one as a present on Christmas day.
Those in the 35-44 age bracket are most likely to purchase a tablet for their own use, while people aged between 18-24 are most likely to receive one. The most popular brand of tablet is the latest iPad model, although 17 per cent expect to receive Tesco’s Hudl device for Christmas. Indeed, sixty per cent of buyers intend to spend less than £200 when purchasing a tablet device.
The survey demonstrates the continuing rise of tablet users and highlights the need for businesses to assess the effectiveness of their customer contact channels through these devices. More and more consumers are using tablets (and mobiles) to contact businesses and there is a real demand for organisations to offer a high standard of customer service across this channel.
