Following a remarkable start in the Portugal Masters at the start of the month, numero’s sponsored golfer Jamie Donaldson has once again delivered an impressive first-round performance in his latest tournament.
Competing in the WGC-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai, Donaldson has emerged as a top contender for the title after day one, sharing second place with Spain’s Gonzalo Fdez-Castano.
“I played pretty solid and tried to stay really patient,” Donaldson stated in an interview, reflecting on the strong opening round. “Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get into your stride and today was a good day.”
The team at numero were especially delighted to see Jamie score an Eagle on the sixteenth hole, followed by a Birdie on the eighteenth to bring him in at five under par by the end of the day. Commenting on the shot, Donaldson explained;
“I drove the green then just rolled the putt in from about 22 or 23 feet. It’s always nice to see those go in on a hole like that. It was a good end to the round.”
This bold performance puts Jamie Donaldson in strong standing going into the second day of the tournament, with only former world number one Rory McIlroy ahead on the leaderboard. Jamie is by no means complacent about his chances of claiming victory on the challenging Sheshan International Golf Course though, admitting;
“It’s a tough course. There are so many difficult holes out there.”
numero would like to congratulate Jamie on a compelling start to the tournament and hope to see this strong form continue over the next few days.
