The video, produced by advertising agency Ogilvy One, follows a shopper in the near future as she goes about her day. The video looks at how retailers might one day combine data captured from mobile, social media and in-store purchases to create a personalised shopping experience.

The video shows a woman entering a store, using her mobile to ‘check into’ the venue. In doing so, the store then provides the shopper with personalised recommendations through WiFi. The woman selects the item she likes and is presented with a map directing her to the product’s location on the shop floor. The shopper then pays for her item via her phone.

Each day, 2.7 Zetabytes of data are created online. And, in 2012, 90 per cent of all the data that existed in human history had been created in the previous two years. The video highlights the growing need for businesses to capture and sort this data in order to offer conjoined customer experiences.

Indeed, many companies are already beginning to filter customer data to offer a personalised experience through numerous devices; mobile, online and in-store. This video presents us with an intriguing look at how this process many evolve.
