After announcing Diabetes UK as their National Charity Partner, Tesco colleagues have been busy raising money to accomplish a target of £10m – the biggest donation ever pledged to the charity.
Diabetes is the number one health threat in the UK and currently has no cure. Unless managed carefully, it can lead to devastating complications such as amputation, blindness, kidney failure and ultimately early death.
Tesco’s fundraising efforts will help change the lives of almost four million people who suffer from the disease in the UK. Funds will also be put towards a huge awareness campaign on Type 2 risk factors, aiming to educate the estimated seven million people at high risk of the condition, as well as facilitate research for a vaccine for Type 1 diabetes.
The cycling team exceeded their fundraising target of £15,000, with a total of just over £16,000 at time of writing. For more information, visit the Tesco CSC JustGiving page.
