The entire social CRM team at numero wishes Simon Khan, the European professional golfer we sponsor, the very best of luck as he takes part in this week’s BMW International Open and prepares for next week’s Irish Open.

The tournaments are two of the most prestigious events on the European Tour, featuring strong fields including emerging stars like Tom Lewis and household names including John Daly and Bernhard Langer. The BWM event takes places in Cologne while the Irish Open returns to Northern Ireland for the first time since 1953, to be held at Royal Portrush Golf Club in County Antrim. Previous winners of the competition include Simon Dyson (2011), Colin Montgomerie (2001) and Nick Faldo (1993).

Simon goes into the competitions after a number of solid performances in recent tournaments – with a top 50 place at the ISPS Handa Wales Open and top 30 place in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.Both of which we characterised by outstanding displays of top quality ball-striking.

Looking further ahead in 2012, Simon travels to France for the Alstom Open de France in July, before taking part in the 141st Open Championship at Royal Lytham – the venue our latest meeting with him when visiting for a practise round. On a more personal note, Simon celebrated his 40th birthday on the 16th June and displayed his commitment to his fans and social CRM with a tweet thanking his expanding Twitter community for the celebratory messages:

“Thanks for all happy birthday messages. 40, wow! But, as Tomas Rosicky said, I feel few years younger in golfing terms. Bring on the next 10.”

We’ve previously discussed Simon’s expertise when interacting with fans via Twitter and other social media channels as he displays an acute awareness for great customer experience management. His dedication to golf enthusiasts should serve as an example to other sports players, as well as the plethora of companies not currently engaging with their customer within Twitter or Facebook.
