numero believes in doing business differently. In keeping with our ‘do the right thing’ brand ethos, we endeavour to build special relationships with customers by working as closely with their businesses as possible. In support of this approach, numero organises unique events at which business leaders can discuss ideas, innovations, strategies and trends in a unique environment.
In sponsoring leading European Tour golfer, Simon Khan, we can provide a unique insight to the European Tour through our ‘Essence of’ events. Designed for a small group of executives, these events mix business with pleasure to create the perfect environment to understand the role numero can play in transforming businesses, processes and customer engagement.
The ‘typical’ format for our Essence of the European Tour events start with a day ‘behind the ropes’ in the build-up to a top-flight tournament – such as the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. This includes the chance to go in the tour trucks of the major manufacturers – such as Simon Khan’s sponsor TaylorMade – and to see the level of detail and customisation the club manufacturers offer at each event to their staff players. Next, it’s on to the practise ground to get close up to the players as they go through their tournament preparation – there’s nothing like watching top players crisply strike balls to create a flight quiet unlike the average amateur. While on the range, there’s often the chance to speak with coaches, caddies and managers – each of whom has fascinating stories about life on the tour. Then across to the practise putting areas for the chance to see the manufacturers lay-out a huge array of putters for players to pick-up while others, including belt manufacturers, set-out their stalls. It’s fascinating to watch putting coaches and psychologists advise the players while they work through complex routines and drills. The pinnacle of the practise days is undoubtedly the chance to walk alongside players like Simon Khan and his Georgia Golf stablemates – including Jamie Elson and Jamie Donaldson – as they plot their way through on-course practise, consulting with caddies on an array of factors scribbled in special yardage books.
After a day on course, we relax over dinner, taking the opportunity to share business ideas and experiences with like-minded people – benefiting as always from the personal networking opportunity this creates. The following day includes a little more behind the scenes time with the players and officials before a round of social golf close to the main event. Rather than going through the rigours of a Pro-Am tournament, we prefer instead to play a more relaxed and intimate social game that continues the networking opportunity for our guests.
Our Essence of the European Tour video, which will be added to this page shortly, a tiny insight to what the days are all about. As Guy Colclough, numero founder and CEO says:
“Sponsoring Simon Khan isn’t about a logo on a shirt, it’s about much more – especially the chance to give our customers and partners the opportunity to link-up with an international sportsman at the top of his profession. The support from Simon and Georgia Golf has been remarkable and its fascinating to see how interested they are in business. Hopefully this is the start of something very special.”
